We, the faith community of St. Gregory the Great Catholic School, in keeping with the Catholic Tradition, nurture in our children and one another, spiritual, personal and academic growth through prayer and Christ-like service.
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!
Our theme for this school year is
"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace."
- The Peace Prayer of St. Francis
"The legacy of a Catholic education is more than the knowledge imparted to our students; it is the development of a deep and abiding sense of faith, the realization of the value of moral character and the inspiration of a lifelong journey of learning." --- Daniel Cardinal DiNardo
St. Gregory the Great Catholic School has been educating, nurturing and forming the lives of children for 57 years. We invite prospective families to visit with us during our Open House on January 30th to see and feel the special community that is St. Gregory the Great Catholic School. The times for the Open House will be 9:00 to 11:00 am and 4:00 to 6:00 pm. You may RSVP by calling the school 342-0281 or email kay.hanson@stgregorys.net.
If you are unable to visit during Open House please feel free to contact the school for a tour.
February 11, 2012 will be our first annual benefit dinner. This evening will celebrate Msgr. Michael O'Gorman for his years of loving service to the community of St. Gregory the Great and the establishment of a scholarship fund. Additional information regarding tickets will be coming soon. So mark your calendars!
Fraction Action is the enhanced math theme which will be utilized across the curriculum this year. Each month we will share a fraction puzzle to complete. Here are a couple of problems:
1. Bryan watched 56 planes land. 3/7 of the planes were from Southwest Airlines. How many planes were NOT from Southwest Airlines?
2. You have a candy bar with six pieces of chocolate. If you give 2 pieces to your friend and eat 1 piece yourself, what fraction of the original candy bar is left?
